DP World Posorja signed an alliance with the Association of Free Zones of America

In addition, we received in their facilities a directory session of the Chamber of Industries of Guayaquil.

Guayaquil, October 29, 2018.– DP World Posorja signed an accreditation with the Association of Free Trade Zones of America (AZFA), whose agreement is to become a new member and first representative in Ecuador, through the construction of the Logistics Park with ZEDE environment (special zone of economic development). This alliance will allow synergies that lead to success in the progress of the logistics park of DP World Posorja.

A new model of logistic park will be developed and soon industrial, in an area greater than 100 hectares, the same one that will have logistic facilities to have integrated the deepwater port. Being a great opportunity to position ourselves at a competitive level through new investments for the country.

In addition, the ceremony was attended by authorities and representatives of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Industries of Guayaquil, who made a tour to learn about the progress of the first phase of the construction project of the Deepwater Port in Posorja, as well as held his board meeting at the facilities of DP World Posorja.

In June 2016, DP World received a 50-year concession to build and operate the first Deepwater Port in Ecuador. The project has been divided into two phases and it is estimated that the first one, which began construction in July 2017, will conclude in 2019. The construction of the first phase of the first Deepwater Port in the country has an investment of USD 500 million and it is 66% with respect to the following points:

 

  • Advance of the dredging in 69%, the new and safest access channel to the Port of Deep Waters in Posorja, will have 16.5 meters of depth, 175 meters of width and 21 nautical miles in length; Likewise, the maneuvering area in front of the Port of Deep Waters in Posorja was dredged to the depth of 16.0 m, making it the channel with the largest draft in the country.

 

  • Advancement of the terminal by 62%, said terminal will have the capacity to mobilize 750 thousand TEU (unit of measurement of cargo containers of twenty feet) per year in Phase I. Dynamizing the economy of the country, positioning itself as a hub in Latin America and providing synergies to the shipping lines, to include landings in Ecuador with the same ships that are now in the rest of the world.

 

  • Advance of the highway of 64% counts on 20Km, is conformed by two bridges, a depressed step and two lanes in a first phase. Said road will allow safe and expeditious access to the terminal in Posorja.

 

“DP World Posorja, will be the port of new opportunities for the country, placing it on a par with the port growth that is developing both regionally and globally”, comments Jorge Velásquez, General Manager of DP World Posorja.

 

DP World, hopes through this project, to strengthen the economy of the country by keeping it connected with world trade, deploying multiple possibilities for the shipping market and businesses related to port growth.

DP World Posorja, the port of Deep Waters in Posorja, will be the most important Port of the West Coast of the South Pacific and will place Ecuador on a par with the port growth that is developing in the region and the world.
